Artist Profile

Fire Underground

Quite possibly the first rock'n'roll band ever to incorporate a clarinet, Fire Underground have built a solid live reputation during their 3 years together. As a two piece Daniel (guitar/vocals/clarinet) and Doyle (drums/backup vocals) played over 140 shows all over Australia, and in late 2006 completed their first ever overseas tour, taking in shows in the US, Canada before heading to Europe to play London, Berlin and Amsterdam.

Drawing influence from two of the biggest and most popular music styles of the last century, rock'n'roll and swing music and combining it with the high energy and intensity of punk bands like The Stooges, Refused and The Hives, Fire Underground have developed their own style that is highly entertaining to watch live, is powerful but fun, and thoroughly danceable.

Thanks to their high energy shows and wide ranging musical style appealing to a broad demographic they've been able to play with bands of many genres such as Youth Group, The Grates, The Black Keys (USA), Alexisonfire (CAN), Midnight Juggernauts and Frenzal Rhomb to name just a few. During this time they released two EPs which received airplay on Triple J and rage and had their song 'Chase Scene' selected as the theme for music TV show 'On The Couch', watched by an estimated 200,000 people a week, all the while offering all their music as free downloads from their website.

Since returning home from overseas the band found their new material demanding a bigger sound and consequently added Ben Hall on bass to the line up and are now working on new material for an EP release in mid 2007.
